Clay Tramel serves as CEO of Allied Affiliated Funding, which he founded in 1992 with $300,000 in start-up capital. Today, the company purchases an average of more than $500 million per year in accounts receivable. While Clay continues to be involved in the business, he has turned the responsibility for day-to-day operations over to Gen Merritt, Allied’s President. In addition to Allied, Clay is the founder of several other successful start-up businesses, and he has extensive experience in turnaround situations. Clay was a founding member and served on the Board of Directors of a local community bank, and he has been active in the commercial real estate industry, earning his CCIM designation 1987. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Business and MBA in Finance from Centenary College of Louisiana in 1982 and 1987, respectively. Clay is an avid reader, and he enjoys traveling and spending time with his wife, Karen, and three children, Connor, Madison, and Cole.

Gen Merritt-Parikh officially joined Allied in September 2009 as Chief Operating Officer and was promoted to President in September 2014. As the company’s hands on leader, Gen has successfully built a solid team of talented employees within the Allied organization while also growing Allied’s marketplace recognition, improving profitability and minimizing loss exposure to the company. Her attention to detail, systematic follow through, upbeat attitude and strong leadership skills are a winning combination for employees and clients alike. She successfully maintains Allied’s overall client portfolio, leading and developing the account management team to ensure both effective and efficient account management and productivity, adherence to policies and procedures and risk management. Gen is a financial executive with more than 20 years of experience in all aspects of commercial finance, including traditional bank and SBA loans, asset based lending and factoring. She has also provided consultancy for factoring companies nationwide in all areas of owning and operating a factoring business including underwriting, auditing, marketing and account, portfolio and financial management. Prior to joining Allied, Gen worked as an industry consultant, served as an officer with Liquid Capital Corp and as the Chief Credit Officer for Comresco Capital. She also held various underwriting and portfolio management positions with Guaranty Business Credit and Southwest Bank. Gen has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business and Economics from the University of Texas at Dallas and is currently serving as Subject Matter Expert for the IFA’s Factoring Account Executive Certification Program. Gen is a member of Vistage and serves on the board for the Finance Forum, co-chairing their annual golf tournament which benefits the Ft. Hood 1st Cavalry Division Association Scholarship Fund. Gen and her husband enjoy sampling new Dallas-Fort Worth restaurants and entertaining.

Farrah currently serves as Senior Vice President of Allied Affiliated Funding and has been a part of the Allied team for nine years. She joined the executive management team for the company in 2016. Farrah currently oversees Allied’s key bank referral relationships while developing new business and leading Allied’s marketing efforts. Previously, Farrah managed Allied’s underwriting department, serving as Senior Underwriter, while also playing an integral role in the legal department. Her underwriting background has proven to be especially useful in her current position by enabling her to quickly evaluate and creatively structure transactions at an early stage in the selling cycle. Farrah graduated in the top five percent of Texas A&M University’s business school with a degree in Finance. She is a member of Vistage as well as the Finance Forum and Commercial Finance Association and enjoys serving her community through the Junior League of Collin County and her church.

Sam Tork joined Allied Affiliated Funding in May 2018 as Senior Vice President. He is focused on building strategic referral relationships and generating new business opportunities across the U.S. Sam has an extensive background in asset-based lending, factoring and banking, and he has also held various leadership positions over the past twenty years of providing lending solutions. His wide-ranging experience gives Sam a unique approach and perspective in financial problem solving for his customers. He believes in leveraging all resources available to deliver the very best options in a clear and transparent manner. For the five years prior to joining Allied, Sam worked as a Senior Vice President, Business Development for Far West Capital, where he focused on further expanding their market presence in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Previously, he served as the Regional Market Head of Business for Bibby Financial out of Texas where he was responsible for all aspects of the business including marketing, portfolio management, credit and operational management. Sam also held various positions in marketing and credit management at Frost Capital Group (Frost Bank), Marquette Commercial Finance, and the U.S. Small Business Administration. Sam received his MBA in Finance from Texas Christian University where he was a Neeley Scholar (top 10% of his class), and he has a Bachelor of Science degree in Corporate Finance from the University of Alabama. Sam enjoys spending time with his wife and two boys, camping, fishing and supporting the TCU Horned Frogs. Sam is a member of the Finance Forum and Commercial Finance Association.

Philip Waltrip has worked with Allied since 1995 initially as their CPA, then officially joining the team in 2008 as Chief Financial Officer. Today, Philip is the Chief Credit Officer for Allied. He has over 25 years of experience in management, with expertise in accounting, tax, mergers and acquisitions, human resources, workouts, and as an advisor in civil litigations. Philip has worked or has been an advisor for several businesses through his career all in different industries including manufacturing, factoring, consumer finance, construction, healthcare nursing, pharmacies and infusion care, staffing, oil and gas, real estate, cattle, helicopter, airline, advertising, public relations and many others. As Allied’s Chief Credit Officer, Philip is responsible for the overall credit risk and analysis for the factoring and ABL division of Axiom Bank N.A. He is actively involved in working with new and existing clients as well, often meeting with them throughout the year and visiting their operations. Philip has a Bachelor’s in Business Administration with an emphasis on accounting, graduating from the University of Texas at Dallas. He also has his CPA license. Philip enjoys golfing, traveling and spending time with his family and their dog, Bear.

Joanne Whatley serves as Legal Coordinator for Allied Affiliated Funding and has been with us since 2007. Joanne works diligently in our Legal Department with both new and existing clients to ensure that all things legal run smoothly. Joanne plays a critical role on our legal team, while also helping to oversee human resources and working with Allied’s many other affiliated companies. Joanne graduated from The University of Texas at Arlington with a Business Management degree while working full time at Trinity Industries. There, she worked in Accounting and in Human Resources where she enjoyed serving on the project management team to get an onsite childcare facility built and managed. Joanne’s next adventure was in the Human Resources department of a start-up telecommunications company called Santera. From there, she was given the opportunity to come to Allied and work as Legal Coordinator. Joanne has four children and two wonderfully loved grandchildren who are teaching her daily how to love unconditionally. She also enjoys yoga, reading, watching soccer, music and people. Life is supposed to be fun, and Joanne is all about the fun!

Charles Dowden joined Allied in August 2016 as Business Development Manager. Charles has a long history in commercial lending and portfolio management including lines of credit, equipment finance, owner occupied and investment real estate and SBA. He has a wealth of knowledge of all types of businesses, particularly those in the manufacturing and financial sectors. His career in banking spans two decades and includes Vice President positions with Wells Fargo Bank, Prosperity Bank and Comerica Bank. Most recently, Charles worked in the Business Banking Group at Wells Fargo in downtown Dallas where he provided commercial lending through lines of credit, owner occupied and investment real estate, equipment and financing for special purpose properties (religious and other non-profits). Charles has never met a stranger. His endearing personality, charismatic nature and ability to befriend anyone and to find creative financial solutions make him a great networker and successful businessman. His character and integrity show in all of his interactions with others and especially in his commitment to support his customers. Charles is always willing to go above and beyond for a customer which makes him a great fit for Allied. He has built excellent business connections throughout his career and prides himself on being trusted, diligent, hardworking and knowledgeable. Charles is a graduate of Northwestern State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. He is an avid LSU sports fan, and he enjoys spending time with family, camping, salt water fishing and community service projects. Charles is also very involved in his local church where he serves on the Finance Committee among other things.
