Clay Tramel serves as CEO of Allied Affiliated Funding, which he founded in 1992 with $300,000 in start-up capital. During its first year of operation, the company funded approximately $700,000 in purchased A/R; since that time, the volume of purchased A/R has grown to over $500 million annually. Clay continues to be active in the daily operation of the business, and he has remained the majority owner of the company throughout its successful 23-year history. He has been instrumental in creating the excellent reputation and presence that Allied has in the market today. Clay was a founding member of a Dallas-based community bank, and he served on the Board of Directors, the Loan Committee and the Technology Committee during the bank’s first two years of operation. Prior to his extensive experience in the factoring business, Clay was active in the commercial real estate industry, particularly multi-family properties, for approximately 10 years. During that time, he arranged over $250 million in commercial real estate loans. Early in his career, he participated in the revitalization of one of the largest low-income housing developments located in Shreveport, Louisiana. He earned the distinguished CCIM designation for commercial realtors in 1987. Clay earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business and MBA in Finance from Centenary College of Louisiana in 1982 and 1987, respectively. Clay is a successful business entrepreneur, active investor and an innovative and out of the box thinker who enjoys structuring creative deals to help businesses succeed. He is also a member of Vistage. Clay is an avid reader, and he enjoys traveling and spending time with his wife and three children.

Gen Merritt-Parikh officially joined Allied in September 2009 as Chief Operating Officer and was promoted to President in September 2014. As the company’s hands on leader, Gen has successfully built a solid team of talented employees within the Allied organization while also growing Allied’s marketplace recognition, improving profitability and minimizing loss exposure to the company. Her attention to detail, systematic follow through, upbeat attitude and strong leadership skills are a winning combination for employees and clients alike. She successfully maintains Allied’s overall client portfolio, leading and developing the account management team to ensure both effective and efficient account management and productivity, adherence to policies and procedures and risk management. Gen is a financial executive with more than 20 years of experience in all aspects of commercial finance, including traditional bank and SBA loans, asset based lending and factoring. She has also provided consultancy for factoring companies nationwide in all areas of owning and operating a factoring business including underwriting, auditing, marketing and account, portfolio and financial management. Prior to joining Allied, Gen worked as an industry consultant, served as an officer with Liquid Capital Corp and as the Chief Credit Officer for Comresco Capital. She also held various underwriting and portfolio management positions with Guaranty Business Credit and Southwest Bank. Gen has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business and Economics from the University of Texas at Dallas and is currently serving as Subject Matter Expert for the IFA’s Factoring Account Executive Certification Program. Gen is a member of Vistage and serves on the board for the Finance Forum, co-chairing their annual golf tournament which benefits the Ft. Hood 1st Cavalry Division Association Scholarship Fund. Gen and her husband enjoy sampling new Dallas-Fort Worth restaurants and entertaining.

Joel Flig joined Allied in January 2010 and currently serves as Executive Vice President, Principal. Joel is a highly experienced financial executive with a passion for helping clients succeed and for simply getting the deal done. He is committed, diligent and has a keen ability to accurately evaluate commercial lending opportunities. His solid ethics, strong financial background and extensive relationships throughout the United States have proven invaluable to Allied. Prior to coming onboard, Joel worked as the EVP and National Sales Manager for Greystone Business Credit, a nationwide commercial finance company. He was responsible for all new business proposals sent out to clients, and he managed and developed a nationwide salesforce. He was personally responsible for half of all new business developed during his time there. Before founding his own company in 1990, Joel worked in the corporate lending division of Aspen Federal Bank and Union Chelsea National Bank and in middle market lending at Republic National Bank of New York. He also completed the Management Development Program at Chase Manhattan. Joel was also the Founder and Co-President of Financial Solutions Group/Capital Solutions Group, an investment banking company specializing in the placement of middle market companies requiring asset based and factoring credit facilities. He arranged and placed more than $600M in debt transactions nationwide. Joel has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance and Management from City University of New York. He has served as a board member for two publicly traded companies and a nonprofit organization. Joel and his wife spend their year between Florida and New York, enjoying time with family. He also enjoys traveling, exercising and all sports.

Farrah currently serves as Senior Vice President of Allied Affiliated Funding and has been a part of the Allied team for nine years. She joined the executive management team for the company in 2016. Farrah currently oversees Allied’s key bank referral relationships while developing new business and leading Allied’s marketing efforts. Previously, Farrah managed Allied’s underwriting department, serving as Senior Underwriter, while also playing an integral role in the legal department. Her underwriting background has proven to be especially useful in her current position by enabling her to quickly evaluate and creatively structure transactions at an early stage in the selling cycle. Farrah graduated in the top five percent of Texas A&M University’s business school with a degree in Finance. She is a member of Vistage as well as the Finance Forum and Commercial Finance Association and enjoys serving her community through the Junior League of Collin County and her church.

David Lau joined Allied in April 2007 as Chief Technology Officer. He is responsible for all aspects of information technology, workflow processes and facilities management, including identifying technology solutions. He is always on the lookout for innovative and cutting edge strategies that will deliver Allied’s services more efficiently. He is our resident “go to guy” for anything and everything technology related. David has a strong background in systems engineering, customer interfacing and product life cycle management with both small and large corporate process exposure. He has start-up, corporate and international experience, as well as expertise in the financial, defense, telecommunications and computer industries. Prior to joining Allied, David was the Co-Founder and President of Dallas-based System Solutions Group, Inc., where he managed a staff placement, consulting and custom development company for the Internet and telecom industry. He built a start-up business that generated $1 million revenue in the first 18 months, securing a major contract with Verizon. This company was successfully acquired by another telecom business he co-founded where he developed sales of over $2 million and generated proposals of over $60 million in new business opportunities. Prior to that, he worked as a Senior Systems Engineer for Texas Instruments for over 18 years. David has a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and graduate work in Computer Science at Southern Methodist University. He also holds various patents. David enjoys cycling, traveling, photography, reading, cooking, and trying out new restaurants and cuisines.

Karen Tramel serves as Allied’s Director of Marketing and Advertising. Since July 2008, she has worked diligently in defining Allied’s marketing strategy and clearly and consistently communicating Allied’s message in the marketplace. Her strong work ethic and attention to detail have proven her to be a key player in driving the brand transformation for the company. Karen has been actively involved in Allied’s business since 2004, initially performing contract work in a variety of areas including project management, sales and marketing activities, and assisting Allied’s management and business development teams. Prior to joining Allied, Karen worked in marketing for a large health system in Fort Worth where she began as a Physician Relations Representative and was quickly promoted to Physician Relations/Network Development Manager. She oversaw the managed care contracting process for a 500 member physician group, reviewing, analyzing and negotiating managed care contracts on their behalf. She also called on the physician sector to promote the use of the health system’s facilities, provide education, create awareness of the services offered, and identify opportunities for physician recruitment, employment and practice acquisition. Karen has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas in Austin as well as a Master of Science degree in Health Care Administration from Texas Woman’s University. She enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband and three children. She is a sports enthusiast, enjoying any sport her children are involved in from high school football to competitive gymnastics to competitive swimming.

Joanne Whatley serves as Legal Coordinator for Allied Affiliated Funding and has been with us since 2007. Joanne works diligently in our Legal Department with both new and existing clients to ensure that all things legal run smoothly. Joanne plays a critical role on our legal team, while also helping to oversee human resources and working with Allied’s many other affiliated companies. Joanne graduated from The University of Texas at Arlington with a Business Management degree while working full time at Trinity Industries. There, she worked in Accounting and in Human Resources where she enjoyed serving on the project management team to get an onsite childcare facility built and managed. Joanne’s next adventure was in the Human Resources department of a start-up telecommunications company called Santera. From there, she was given the opportunity to come to Allied and work as Legal Coordinator. Joanne has four children and two wonderfully loved grandchildren who are teaching her daily how to love unconditionally. She also enjoys yoga, reading, watching soccer, music and people. Life is supposed to be fun, and Joanne is all about the fun!

Charles Dowden joined Allied in August 2016 as Business Development Manager. Charles has a long history in commercial lending and portfolio management including lines of credit, equipment finance, owner occupied and investment real estate and SBA. He has a wealth of knowledge of all types of businesses, particularly those in the manufacturing and financial sectors. His career in banking spans two decades and includes Vice President positions with Wells Fargo Bank, Prosperity Bank and Comerica Bank. Most recently, Charles worked in the Business Banking Group at Wells Fargo in downtown Dallas where he provided commercial lending through lines of credit, owner occupied and investment real estate, equipment and financing for special purpose properties (religious and other non-profits). Charles has never met a stranger. His endearing personality, charismatic nature and ability to befriend anyone and to find creative financial solutions make him a great networker and successful businessman. His character and integrity show in all of his interactions with others and especially in his commitment to support his customers. Charles is always willing to go above and beyond for a customer which makes him a great fit for Allied. He has built excellent business connections throughout his career and prides himself on being trusted, diligent, hardworking and knowledgeable. Charles is a graduate of Northwestern State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. He is an avid LSU sports fan, and he enjoys spending time with family, camping, salt water fishing and community service projects. Charles is also very involved in his local church where he serves on the Finance Committee among other things.

Nolan Reichert first began his journey at Allied in May 2011 when he accepted a summer internship position. In that role, he learned the interworkings of the business, rotating through different departments to understand how they all work and fit together. Nolan has now been at Allied full time since May 2016 and serves as Business Development Officer. His excellent communication and interpersonal skills make him a great fit in this role of talking to people, assessing their financial situations and offering a quick and creative solution. Because Nolan is highly self-motivated, goal oriented and has the ability to multitask, he is also assisting in Marketing, generating ideas, writing company communications and identifying solutions to make our clients’ onboarding process easier. Nolan thrives in a results oriented environment and feels right at home at Allied. He is a proven high achiever on our team. Nolan began his college education at Texas A&M University, then transferred to the University of Texas at Dallas in 2015. He is expected to graduate in 2017 with a degree in Economics. In his free time, Nolan enjoys playing golf, watching sports, going to the movies, traveling and going on adventures with his friends.
